Creative Croydon delivers commissioned arts project and open funded choirs, groups and events.
Creative Croydon catalyses innovative and inspiring neighbourhood community arts initiatives. These have involved local communities in Croydon through various Arts in the Park initiatives. Activities have included a Peace Picnic, Wassails and workshops connecting with nature through poetry, mindfulness and the visual arts.
Creative Cafes are another initiative we have developed and delivered in community and mental health settings. The Creative Café is a relaxed space offering creative arts activities to help enhance emotional well being. People are can come along and try our different activities such as art, collage, singing and creative writing, as well as take time to sit, chat and connect with others.
Our services include running Croydon Community Choir. Please take a look at the respective page for more information. We also initiated and delivered Croydon Carers Choir for 6 years, in partnership with Croydon Carers Centre. We are now expanding our reach to those who do not yet identify as carers, supporting a child or partner for example. We started up and ran Caterham Community Choir, Bluehouse Lane singers (Oxted supported housing project), in partnership with Tandridge arts, eventually handing these to local ownership. We developed the Rainbows Across Borders choir as a commissioned project.
Over the last 20 years our team has provided many youth and adults creative participatory music projects including Summer Uni, Youth Voice, Arts Award, Songwriting and band sessions and we welcome new partnerships and commissions. Pupil Referral Unit projects have been a speciality.
