October – more about the fun palaces

Creative Fun Palaces in Nature – Selhurst and Addington FREE (limited places, so need to book)

We have two lovely FREE events for the Croydon Year of Culture, offered in the spirit of Joan Littlewood – and the Fun Palace movement. Fun Palaces are sessions where we are all teachers (optional) – adults can come to share skills and have new creative experiences. If you have a skill or topic that you know about and want to offer a small input 10-15 mins is enough or longer, let us know. You don’t need to be expert. We are also contributing ti the Wilderness Open day on the 8th, a nice little space hidden away near Selsdon High street.

These events are for adults (16+ if with an adult). There is little opportunity sometimes for grownups to relax and play in the woods, without attending to others’ needs. Come, renew, refresh and rediscover your joy in simple activities like nature arts, forest bathing, bushcraft, wandering in dappled light, sitting round sharing songs and stories/poems in candlelight (WHR) plus yoga, and cooking together round a fire (Frylands). Instruments welcome. Attend part or all of each session advertised, as your time permits. Let yourself have this delight in a way that fits for you. With Suzy Strudwick (of GowildwithusCIC).

Oct 6th twilight 3 hr session in Whitehorse Road urban park and community garden – read more and book here https://snappytickets.co.uk/events/nature-fun-palaces-selhurst/

Oct 7th an afternoon 3 hrs session and/or an evening 3 hrs session, in Frylands Scout camp, read more and book here: https://snappytickets.co.uk/events/nature-fun-palace-addington-croydon/

Oct is Menopause Month – More details to entice you Half day Retreat

I am excited to be partnering with Sara at Studio 39 in South Croydon to offer a half day Menopause transition retreat for those in Peri menopause through post menopause, all ages. Sunday 29th Oct:  2.30 – 5.30pm . £45 with early bird £5 discount. This delicious, self-nourishing retreat will involve:

  • Menopause information presentation and sharing including some lesser known facts and how to manage both symptoms and GP in a range of ways. Group circle sharing will also be facilitated by Catherine.
  • We will move into a replenishing break with tea break (in a beautiful garden, if good weather, with some menopause cake and menopause related teas).
  • Then a section of small group choices – talking about different peri and post stages, or activities options (collage or comfort card or zine with completed examples for inspiration) Coming back to the large circle for sharing, surprises, interesting connections, feelings etc.
  • Final section, some forest bathing and then meditation with Sara, sitting around the fire, if clement. We will share a chant (I will be gentle with myself chant) for us to sing together. Then writing a thought, feeling or action to release as no longer useful, and give to the fire.
